Aya Kamiki (?? ?? Kamiki Aya?) is a Japanese musical artist of Ainu heritage, born September 10, 1985 in Sapporo, Hokkaid?, Japan. Her style ranges from pop, rock to rhythm and blues. She currently resides in Osaka, and is currently signed with Tokyo-based AVEX recording label. She speaks moderate Chinese, and because of this, she has a notable fanbase in China.

Biography

Kamiki learned to play the piano when she was 4 years old. In junior high school, she began singing live. Influenced by punk rock, she also learned how to play the guitar.

In 2005, Kamiki released her two mini-albums "Constellation" and "Rock On" from the independent record label Weed Records.

Kamiki's singing career was mainly active in Osaka, where she garnered positive results. Her voice was so full of force that it was part of her reputation. She made appearances in music and fashion magazines, which caught people's attention.

In 2006, Kamiki signed on with Giza Studio and released her first major label single "Communication Break" on March 15th. On April 12th, her second single "Pierrot" was released. The song was respectively written and composed by B'z members Koshi Inaba and Tak Matsumoto, although the lyrics in Kamiki's version were slightly modified. It was released on the same day as the B'z single "??????????" (Yuruginaimono Hitotsu), which contained "Pierrot" as its 2nd Beat (B-side). The single reached 9th place on the Oricon charts. Her third single "Mou Kimidake-wo Hanashitari-wa Shinai" peaked at the 11th place, and her first full album "Secret Code" debuted at 5th place. In order to promote Secret Code's release, Kamiki held two mini-concerts. One was as "Black Kamiki" and was performed at Tower Records in Shibuya. The other (later on the same day), was as "White Aya" and was performed at HMV in Shibuya. Entrance was free, provided that you had purchased Secret Code at the corresponding store.

Early 2007, Kamiki was one of the winners of the 21th Japan Gold Disc Award's New Artist of the Year.

4Minute (Korean: ???) is a South Korean girl group created by Cube Entertainment

History

4Minute was announced in May 2009, along with two of the group's members, Kim HyunAh and Nam JiHyun. Although JiHyun is known as the leader, many singing parts and centered dancing roles belong to HyunAh (who is a former member of Wonder Girls). On June 11, 2009, the silhouette teaser video was released online, along with their official website.[1] The remaining three members' identities were kept secret until June 12.[2] On June 15, 2009, their debut single "Hot Issue" was released along with another teaser video and the profiles for each group member.[3] Within hours of the song release, it quickly climbed onto top five within various digital music charts such as Cyworld, Bugs, Soribada, and Mnet.[4] 4minute had their debut performances on June 18-21 with "Hot Issue" on Mnet M!Countdown, KBS Music Bank, MBC Music Core and SBS Popular Music show. They won the digital music award "Rookie Of The Month" for June and August. 4minute won their first ever number one award on Inkigayo, on September 27 and on M!Countdown, on October 1.

Controversy

On June 21, 2009, after the first week of "Hot Issue" promotions, fans stole various items from the group's van, including clothing and other items. Cube Entertainment said it was very unfortunate that such an ordeal occurred.[5]

On August 27, 2009, Korean broadcaster KBS banned play of the 4minute song "Won't Give (???)" for what they considered to be overly sexual lyrical content. The lyrics in question, in the style of a first-person narrative, express an unwillingness on the part of the subject to "give" herself or her heart to her partner. Cube Entertainment responded to the ban by stating that the song was intended to be "about the pure feelings of a girl to a guy" and that they were "very disappointed" by the decision.

Musical career

Cube Entertainment had released a teaser for their first single "Hot Issue" on June 10 and debuted on June 18 continuing promotions till August. In the end of August, 4Minute released a mini-album called For Muzik which was alongside their second single, "Muzik". Their third single is "What A Girl Wants."

Each song they have released has focused on one member of the group. "Hot Issue" focused on Hyuna, "Muzik" focused on Jiyoon and "What A Girl Wants" focused on Gayoon.

Gackt Camui (?? ?? Kamui Gakuto?, born July 4, 1973[1][fn 1]) is a Japanese musician, composer, and lyricist, as well as a poet, author, actor, designer, and model. Usually referred to by his mononymous stage name (stylized as GACKT), he is known for his career as a solo artist and as the former vocalist for the now-defunct band Malice Mizer. Besides Japanese, he has performed in English, Korean, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

During his solo career, Gackt has released nine albums, and 34 singles. His music has been used as theme songs for various anime, television dramas, and video games, such as New Fist of the North Star, Bujingai, Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, and Kamen Rider Decade, amongst others. He co-starred and co-wrote the 2003 film Moon Child and he acted in the NHK drama F?rin Kazan as Uesugi Kenshin.

Biography

Early life

Gackt was born in Okinawa, Japan, on July 4, 1973. In an interview, Gackt once stated that his birth year is 1540, and that he feels he was born in the wrong time period and should have been alive during the time of samurai.[2] His father was a music teacher primarily playing the trumpet and his mother was also a teacher. According to Gackt's autobiography, he was a mischievous child and enjoyed taking risks; at age of seven he nearly drowned while swimming off the coast of Okinawa. After this near-death experience, he claimed to have the ability to see and speak with deceased family members, a notion which was dismissed by his parents.[3][4] At the age of ten, Gackt was hospitalized with a gastrointestinal condition and had to remain at the hospital for a prolonged time. He made the acquaintance of several terminally ill children, some of whom died during his stay.[5]

Gackt's musical education began at age three, when his parents initiated his classical piano education, which he grew tired of four years later. It would take another four years until his parents allowed him to quit. Gackt is known for being very competitive, and when he learned that a friend was also learning piano it led to Gackt taking up the piano again so he could be better. Having only listened to classical and enka while growing up, Gackt didn't become interested in rock music until he was a young adult. He cites Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" as being particularly inspiring, and went on to master modern percussion and guitar.[5]

Malice Mizer

In 1995, Gackt joined Malice Mizer as the group's vocalist, lyricist and pianist. The band released several successful singles along with two albums with Gackt, entitled Voyage ~Sans Retour~ and Merveilles. At the immediate start of 1999, Gackt left Malice Mizer. Five months after Gackt's departure, Kami died of a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Gackt dedicated two songs to his memory ("U+K" and "Emu ~For my dear~").

Solo career

Gackt launched his solo career on May 12, 1999 with the release of the EP Mizerable. Several albums, singles and videos (on VHS and DVD) have since followed. Gackt's music has also been featured as theme songs for anime and video games multiple times, examples being New Fist of the North Star, Bujingai, Texhnolyze, and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, amongst others. He has also provided voice acting, motion capturing and his likeness for such works on several occasions[6][7] and co-wrote and co-starred in the 2003 movie Moon Child, which also features Hyde (vocalist of L'Arc~en~Ciel) and Taiwanese-American singer Leehom Wang.[8] Also in 2003, Gackt published his autobiography, Jihaku and for Caparison Guitars, he has designed two guitars, named "Mercury" and "Venus".[9][10]

2007-present

Cover of Gackt's 2007 release "Returner ~Yami no Sh?en~"

Beginning January 7, 2007, Gackt played the warlord Uesugi Kenshin in the NHK drama F?rin Kazan.[11] Gackt's single "Returner ~Yami no Sh?en~", was released on June 20, 2007, and was the first in his career (both solo and in a band) to reach the number one spot on the Japanese Oricon charts.[12] Gackt has provided the voice for Malthazar in the Japanese release of the film Arthur and the Minimoys[13] and in October 2007, his back catalog became available in the iTunes Store.

On December 19, 2008, Gackt released an album titled 0079-0088. It contains eight tracks, which had either previously been used on the soundtracks of the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam movies or were covers of earlier songs from the Gundam franchise.[14] It was created as a tribute to the creator of Gundam, Yoshiyuki Tomino, for his birthday.[15] Gackt performed on the 58th K?haku Uta Gassen, the 2008 annual New Year's Eve special by NHK.[16]

Gackt's single "Jesus" was released on November 26, 2008; his first single release in over a year.[17][18] On January 28. 2009, Gackt released his twenty-seventh single, "Ghost", which was the opening for the Japanese version of The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Gackt is expected to perform the theme song for upcoming third installment in the "Samurai Warriors" series video game[19][20] and as a representative of Japan at the Asia Song Festival in 2009.[21][22]

S.K.I.N.

On May 25, 2007, the formation of the supergroup S.K.I.N. was announced which, besides Gackt, consists of fellow pop/rock artist Miyavi, former Luna Sea guitarist Sugizo and X Japan co-founder Yoshiki. The group gave its debut performance at the Anime Expo convention in Long Beach, California on June 29, 2007[23] and plans to release an album.[24]

Current projects

Gackpoid

Gackt lent his voice and stage name for the creation of the Vocaloid Kamui Gakupo (??????). Yamaha wanted to utilize the voice of a musician but felt it would be difficult to acquire cooperation. They consulted Dwango (new owner of Vocaloid publisher Internet Co. Ltd.), who suggested Gackt, as Gackt had previously provided his voice for Dwango's cell phone services.[25] Referred to alternately as Gakupoid or Gackpoid, the most recent release includes a new program, OPUS Express, for mixing vocal parts with accompaniment and phoneme data.[26] The new software will be available for download for users with registered copies of previous Vocaloids. Besides the new program, Gackpoid will include two of Gackt's songs and three example songs.[27]

The product was originally intended to be released in June 2008, but although Gackt existed as a model for the Vocaloid, it lacked an illustrated avatar to match the previous Vocaloids. Popular manga author Kentar? Miura, famous for his dark fantasy epic Berserk, was approached. Due to Miura's affection for Nico Nico Douga, he agreed to offer his services as character designer for free. As a fan of Berserk, Gackt was more than happy with this arrangement, and requested Miura's sketches be faxed to him as well as the developers, even though he was on location for the filming of Guy Moshe's Bunraku.[28] Gackpoid was released on July 31, 2008.[27] Miura's design for Gakupo has a samurai aesthetic—the Vocaloid is clad in a hakama and haori, and carries a katana that somehow acts as a musical instrument.

Appearances as Uesugi Kenshin

Gackt reprised his Furin Kazan television role of Japanese warlord Uesugi Kenshin at Joetsu city's Great Kenshin Festival for the second year in a row on August 23, 2008.[29] On May 21, 2008, Gackt released the documentary, Amakakeru Ryu no Gotoku, which was about his time spent making the drama, F?rinkazan.[30]

10 Year Anniversary Countdown

On June 20, 2009 Gackt released his single "Koakuma Heaven", which was the first of four singles released as part of Gackt's "10 Year Anniversary Countdown," which was a countdown to his 10th anniversary as solo artist.[31] Each of the countdown singles were released within a week of one another. The second single was "Faraway", released June 17, followed by the third single, "Lost Angels", released June 24 and ended with "Flower", which was released July 1, 2009.[31]

Kamen Rider Decade

Cover of Gackt's "Journey through the Decade" single; the opening theme for Kamen Rider Decade

As part of both the Kamen Rider Series' Heisei period run and Gackt's solo career having their 10th anniversaries, Gackt was brought onto the 2009 edition of the Kamen Rider Series Kamen Rider Decade to perform its opening theme "Journey through the Decade", released via Avex Trax, and later released on the iTunes Store along with its promotional video. He would later perform the theme song for the film Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders vs. Dai-Shocker titled "The Next Decade", also released on Avex Trax.[32] In addition to his performance of the theme song, he was also cast in the film as J?ji Y?ki, the man who transforms into Riderman, and was given a reimagined Cassette Arm as part of his costume (a redesigned Riderman was absent from the film due to time constraints).[33] He also portrays the character in the promotional video for "The Next Decade". For the final film for Kamen Rider Decade Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Double & Decade: Movie Wars 2010, Gackt released the song "Stay the Ride Alive" on January 1, 2010. Along with the CD and CD+DVD releases, a limited edition "special memorial single" containing a second DVD and special booklet was also released. The theme of the first song was the "Journey" (? Tabi?), the theme of the second was the "War" (? Ikusa?), and the third's theme is "Eternity" (?? Eien?).[34]

FictionJunction is Japanese composer Yuki Kajiura’s solo project. It is not a pseudonym that Kajiura uses when she composes soundtracks. To date, all such collaborations have consisted of a (female) vocalist, with Kajiura on the keyboard or the piano. Most FictionJunction songs have been featured in an anime series (usually as insert songs), most notably Gundam Seed and Tsubasa Chronicle. Victor Entertainment is FJ’s record label.

The single reached #53 on Oricon weekly chart and stayed in chart for 3 weeks. Asuka Kato is currently working on her solo projects and no longer involved in FictionJunction.
FictionJunction Kaori

Wakana is also involved with Yuki Kajiura's Kalafina Project.
FictionJunction Yuuka
Vocalist: Yuuka Nanri (?? ?? Nanri Y?ka?)[1] - (Born March 13, 1984)
FictionJunction Yuuka was Kajiura’s first, longest and best-known collaboration under the FictionJunction name. They were originally called "FictionJunction featuring Yuuka", but later the "featuring" part was dropped as it made the name long.[3]
Yuriko Kaida
Vocalist: Yuriko Kaida (????? Kaida Yuriko?)[1] - (Born November 1, 19xx)
Trained at Kunitachi College of Music, after graduation, she became a studio/live musician, providing vocals and backing chorus to numerous artists in record studios and on tours. Yuriko Kaida is a long-time Kajiura vocalist, they first met on Noir project in 2001. Indeed, she is the singer of the songs which made Yuki break into the anime world : Canta per Me, Lullaby and Salva Nos. Whether it be on the chorus or as a main vocal, it is not rare to hear Yuriko Kaida’s voice into Yuki’s works. She is also performing in Yuki Kajiura Live Vol.#1, 2, 3 and will sing in the fourth one this summer. In addition, she has composed some of the theme songs of Medabots and Ojamajo Doremi. On FictionJunction’s latest release, Everlasting Songs, she performs lead vocals on "Here We Stand in the Morning Dew" (originally performed by Saeko Chiba in Everything ) and "Himitsu" (originally performed by Aya Hisakawa in Noir blanc dans Noir), as well as providing backing vocals throughout the album.[1]
Yuriko has also performed the opening theme "Miracle Body no Goyoujin" of the Anime Knights of Ramune together with Midori Kawana [4] and "Shiawase no Hane" from Onegai My Melody. [5] Furthermore she is credited as the composer of "Hop Step Pop" from Ojamajo Doremi series.[6]

Da Mouth

Published: Jan 13, 2010 by admin Filed under: Artist Bio's D

Da Mouth (simplified Chinese: ???traditional Chinese: ???pinyin: dà zui ba) is a Taiwanese hip-hop band made up of MC 40, DJ Chung Hua, male vocalist Harry, and female vocalist Aisa. They are considered the Asian Black Eyed Peas due to the group's diversity. They released their self-titled debut album "Da Mouth" on November 16, 2007.

The band's Chinese band name directly translates into "big mouth". Their English band name is derived from the concatenation of the Chinese character for "big:" ? which when romanized using pinyin becomes "dà", and the translation of the second half of their Chinese band name.

Member history

Da Mouth's fun and funky club hip-hop brings something different to mainstream Mando-pop, as does their unique member composition. The group is formed by many hyphens: Canadian-Taiwanese MC 40, Korean-Taiwanese-American male vocalist Harry, Taiwanese DJ Chung Hua, and Japanese female vocalist Aisa.[1] Harry grew up in San Mateo County, California, located around San Francisco. After his younger brother, Mike Chang graduated from Mills High School, they both returned to Taiwan to pursue their musical careers. MC 40 was raised in Vancouver, Canada. He writes most of Da Mouth's lyrics on the album and is considered one of the best and fastest rappers in Taiwan with his multi-language rapping ability. Aisa was born in Japan, and was originally a member of Sunday Girls from the popular Taiwanese television program Super Sunday before she joined the group. DJ Chung Hua was transferred to Japan at the age of 14 because his parents worked there. He is known as the producer of the group and he had won many DJ awards internationally.
